How to join

For further info on how to join our club or express interest complete the above form.

We have 3 types of membership: Full - Family - Junior

    Full: any person over 18yrs

Family: up to 4 members of one family who are all accepted as

    individual members

Junior: any person within age 14-18yrs

Membership fees: we do not publish membership fees, these will be advised to the individual by club officials on application.

Initially, we like to meet prospective members for an informal chat - we go through the joining process, costs, etc. Following this, if we are happy to take you on as a probationary member, you will complete our club application form (which we declare to Durham Constabulary) & you will pay an initial fee. We need to get to know you & find out a little about you first.

We need you to be proposed by a full club member. If you know such a person already, there is no problem. If you do not know a full member then a committee member will propose you once we are satisfied about you.

You will be required to sign a declaration stating you are not prohibited from being in possession of firearms or ammunition.

You will normally be a probationary member for at least 3 months. We are required to make an assessment about your level of commitment & general character during this period & to base the decision about full membership on the outcome of this.

Once you are a full member you are able to apply for your Firearms Certificate if you wish.

Q.  What sort of shooting can `I do at the club?

A.  We have the following types of shooting available, all of which take

place at our indoor range or outdoor range, depending upon the

      .22 Target, Sporting, Gallery Rifles

Pistol Calibre Carbines up to .45 calibre

      Full Bore Rifles (.223, .243, .308, etc)

      Military Rifles

      Black Powder Pistols & Rifles

      Long Barrel Pistols & Revolvers

Q.  How many ranges are there at the club?

A.  We have access to one Indoor 25m Range (6 x lanes) & multiple

Outdoor Full Bore Ranges at Ponteland & Catterick Garrison.

Q.  As a member would I be insured?

A.  Each member & their equipment is insured when at the range.

Q.  I don't have a Firearms Certificate (FAC), can I still join?

A.  Yes, but you will have to go through a probationary period, usually 3

x months minimum, which includes basic training in firearms safety

      & handling.

Q.  What happens next?

A.  Once you have been vetted by the club, which includes being

assessed over your probationary period by the committee, taking

into consideration your commitment & character, then, when the

committee is satisfied about you, you will qualify for membership.

The club secretary will discuss this with you at this point.

Q.  I am an existing FAC holder, can I join?

A.  Yes, but you will still have to go through the appropriate process.

You will be required to provide evidence of your FAC. If you are or

were a member of another club, you will bet expected to provide a

      suitable reference from that club.
